Assist Levels

There are six assist levels when performing functional skills:

  1. Independence:  Participant performs activity without assistance or assistive device within a reasonable time and safely.
  2. Contact Guard Assist/Hands On Assist:  A variation of Min A when participant requires occasional contact to maintain balance or dynamic stability.
  3. Min A or Minimal Assist:  Participant performs at least 75% of the effort to perform the activity.
  4. Mod A or Moderate Assist:  Participant performs at least 50% but less than 75% of the effort to perform the activity.
  5. Max A or Maximal Assist:  Participant performs at least 25% but less than 50% of the effort to perform the activity.
  6. Total Assistance/Dependent:  Participant performs less than 25% of the effort to perform the activity.
